Your Wedding Checklist
The question has been popped, the ring is on… you’re engaged you’re looking forward to spending forever with your future spouse. Now comes the fun bit; planning your big day! We understand that the lengthy to-do list and the nitty gritty details can feel overwhelming but the below checklist can act as a an easy guide to approaching your special day without it becoming stressful.

Budget
This is, of course, the first thing you and your fiancé(e) need to decide upon before any wedding planning can begin. Planning a wedding on a budget, whether it be big or small determines guest list sizes, food choices and the all-important venue. Remember that weddings are, like everything else, more expensive today than they were 30 years ago, so don’t compare yourself to what family members might say they spent and instead focus on spending the budget on what you deem to be important for your day. Its crucial to communicate your budget with your vendors so that they can work with you to see what might suit your wedding best. At Social Pantry, our team will help you on every step of your wedding journey, from deciding what sort of meal would make the biggest impact for a smaller budget to how to make the most of an unlimited one.

Date
The process of deciding on your wedding date often gets convoluted with too many people offering their opinion and their preferred dates. Instead, focus on what season would best suit your desired day. Are you looking to have your wedding abroad but want to avoid soaring temperatures? Would you like to have your wedding as soon as possible so that loved ones can attend? Do you have a specific seasonal flower you desperately want in your bouquet? These are all things to consider and might help guide your decision. It’s also worth narrowing down your venue options and seeing when they are available, this is the most likely factor on which to decide which date your choose. Right now, many venues are booked up for well over a year so it’s best to start looking soon and get the date locked in, then you can start to plan the rest!
Choosing a Planner
Wedding planners are an excellent way to ease stress and make the very best of your day if budget allows. They can be involved in as much or as little of the planning process as you desire with options varying from complete management and design to a wedding organiser for the day. The latter helps to manage anything that might go wrong on the day, coordinate vendors and ensure that your day runs smoothly. If you are opting for a planner to help you from start to finish of your wedding planning journey it’s so important to choose someone who is like minded and that you get on well, with as you will be in communication with them for, sometimes, over a year.

Choosing a Venue
Venues can make such a difference to the overall feel and look of your wedding and so become a significant choice during the planning process. They can also take up a large portion of the budget, so choosing the right one might take a bit of exploration. Consider the size of wedding you are after carefully as a large space with not enough people can create a vacuous feel in the room and won’t encourage a good atmosphere or dancing. Remember to speak to your vendors or planner to see if they have any recommendations as they have plenty of experience working at multiple venues and can have inside knowledge on lesser known locations that require word-of-mouth. At Social Pantry, we are proud to partner with over 70 iconic venues across London and the UK including Somerset House, The National Portrait Gallery and Blenheim Palace. We have something to suit all tastes and our planners are on hand with their expert knowledge to provide you with the best advice and support.

This is where our expertise comes into play and our incredible chefs are able to truly wow you and your guests. Our fresh, locally sourced produce means that we only serve the very best ingredients in the most delicious of ways.

Choosing your entertainment
Entertainment is not to be overlooked. This is what gets all of your guests up and dancing long into the night and what they remember for years to come. For many, the most important entertainment is the music. Choose between a great DJ, live music during the ceremony or even a mariachi band for the reception. Remember to go with what music you like the most and not get swept up with what you think “should” be played at a wedding. Entertainment doesn’t stop with music though, plenty of couples encourage guests to enjoy activities throughout the space such as photo booths, fireworks and live performances.

Guest List and Invitations
Your wedding is the perfect opportunity to get everyone you love in the same room and make it an incredible day to remember. Consider your venue and budget size first to help guide the number of people you can invite and, as hard as it is, try to keep the list to the people you really want there and not who everyone else thinks should attend. Its now customary to send out your save the dates or wedding invitations out 6-12 months ahead of the big day to make sure as many of your loved ones can attend as possible and invitation options truly are endless. Options range from elaborate invitation packages with personalised illustrations incorporating your custom wedding palette, or minimalistic stationary that reflects the refined style of the event. Don’t forget that wedding stationery can include a vast number of things on the day itself including the order of service, menus, table plans and name cards.

Your Flowers
Flowers bring such beauty and freshness to any venue and can completely transform a blank canvas into a mesmerising space. Opt for seasonally appropriate flowers to cut down on unnecessary transportation and costs, these will also tie in better with the landscape if you choose to have any photos taken outdoors. Of course, flowers are one of the easiest ways to introduce a colour palette into the event, whether you are after soft ivories and greens, or bright pinks and vibrant orange hues, flowers set the tone for the day more than you might realise. Consider playing with scale and arranging small, singular vases across tables or create a show-stopping centrepiece with a large arrangement. Seasonal berries and foliage also help to create another dimension to your arrangement whilst injecting some texture to your scheme.

Enjoy It!
So much planning, effort and stress can go into making your wedding day perfect so make sure you stop and enjoy the day itself when it finally arrives. Trust in the experience of your vendors and the expertise of your planners and enjoy every bit of your hard work as it will fly by in a blur. We know that so many brides say that they are so busy greeting guests and never had a chance to eat, so make sure you sit down and enjoy the menu you helped to create, trust us, we promise it will be worth the wait!
