5 of the Best Sustainable Wedding Venues in London That We’ve Catered for
Weddings seem to get bigger, more opulent and more harmful to the environment every year (if Instagram is anything to go by!), but if living more sustainably is your thing, you’ve come to the right place…
London is brimming with breathtaking wedding venues, but unfortunately, not all of them are able to commit to rigorous sustainability standards. But, with over thirteen years of experience catering weddings across the capital and beyond, we’ve handpicked a selection of some of our favourite, and London’s most sustainable wedding venues.
Social Pantry is proud to be a B Corp business, so naturally sustainability is at the heart of what we do and our team is dedicated to ensuring that we deliver exceptional events, while making as little harmful impact on the environment as possible. That’s why, when it comes to working with event venues, it’s important to us that we partner with locations that align with our values, especially our commitment to sustainability.
When looking for a wedding location, a venue’s eco-friendly credentials might not be front and centre in their brochures, but whether you’re dreaming of a leafy garden oasis, an iconic city landmark, a world-renowned art gallery or a heritage building with charm and character, you’ll find a venue that aligns with your vision for the big day below.

One of London’s most iconic landmarks, we’re proud to be the exclusive caterer for Tower Bridge, which is home to three event venues: The North Tower Lounge, The Engine Rooms and The high-level Walkways.
The Bridge’s North Tower is licensed for weddings, so couples can opt for an intimate wedding in the cosy North Tower Lounge (which has space for up to 50 guests) and then celebrate afterwards 42m above the River Thames in the high-level Walkways (where capacity reaches up to 250).
Sustainability at Tower Bridge
As part of the City Bridge Foundation, Tower Bridge is committed to sustainability and has recently taken several important steps towards a greener future. These include implementing energy-efficient measures and water-saving solutions; sourcing its energy from clean energy suppliers; continuously improving waste management systems to reduce environmental impact; actively raising awareness about the importance of sustainable practices among its staff and key stakeholders; and promoting the use of public transport to both staff and visitors. The Bridge also supports social and environmental causes by encouraging its staff to volunteer for community initiatives.
The implementation of these measures has led to Tower Bridge being awarded a Gold Award from Green Tourism, with a score of 85%.
By choosing Social Pantry as its sole caterer, Tower Bridge has initiated a thoughtful collaboration rooted in shared values and a commitment to making a positive impact in London. Both are dedicated to creating lasting social change, with City Bridge Foundation focused on fostering a fairer, greener city, and Social Pantry using food as a means to support communities and promote social mobility, alongside serving sustainable food and drink . All of our menus are created with sustainability in mind, making use of seasonal, locally- and ethically-sourced ingredients to create exciting dishes while creating as little food waste as possible. We take a hard stance on banning suppliers or produce from our menus that don’t align with our mission (for example, we don’t serve avocado or any drinks from the world’s biggest plastic polluters, Coca-Cola and Nestlé), and switched our delivery vans to electric vehicles, drastically reducing emissions as we transport food and drink from Social Pantry HQ to the venue.
Our Experience Catering at Tower Bridge
We’re thrilled to be the exclusive caterer for events at Tower Bridge and have witnessed several couples tie the knot at this iconic venue since we started working with them in spring 2024.
For the latest, our couple got married in the North Tower Lounge in front of 42 of their closest family and friends, before heading up to the high-level Walkways for an evening reception. Set to a beautiful backdrop of the sun setting over London’s iconic skyline, guests enjoyed English sparkling wine and freshly shucked, British oysters from Maldon Oysters. Team Social Pantry then served a selection of exciting seasonal canapés and bowl foods as the night went on, including Scallop Ceviche with Yuzu Dressing, Chilli & Radish and Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Fennel & Cabbage Slaw and Black Garlic Mayo.
Why We Love Tower Bridge for Weddings
For starters, it’s totally unique – how many people can say they got hitched inside one of London’s most famous landmarks? It’s, quite literally, iconic.
The Bridge’s central London location and proximity to train, tube, bus and boat (!) stations also makes it a really easy venue to reach for guests coming from both within and outside of London.
The venue is so versatile – couples can have an intimate wedding ceremony in the cosy North Tower Lounge or at the north end of the Walkways, before continuing on to either a seated dinner, standing party or mix of the two. Either way, the views are unbeatable.
Speaking of views, there is no view comparable to the ones from Tower Bridge. From unique perspectives on the Bridge itself from North Tower Lounge, to views right across the London skyline and into the horizon, as well as a bird’s eye view of the River Thames and the Bridge Lifts as large boats pass through.

Hampton Court Palace is an iconic historical landmark that makes an unforgettable setting for a wedding. Steeped in history and grandeur, the famous Tudor palace boasts awe-inspiring architecture, opulent interiors, sweeping staircases, spacious courtyards and stunning gardens. Couples can exchange vows in the elegant Garden Room or historic Little Banqueting House, then celebrate in the majestic Great Hall, where Henry VIII once dined. As for photos, there are plenty of spots to choose from, but if weather permits, the beautiful manicured gardens can provide the perfect backdrop.
Sustainability at Hampton Court Palace
As part of Historic Royal Palaces, a charity dedicated to preserving six of the most prestigious palaces in the UK, Hampton Court Palace is committed to protecting its spaces for future generations, while taking action on climate change and nature loss.
Historic Royal Palaces plan to achieve carbon net zero and become nature positive by 2050, and have already implemented several measures to take them towards their goal. These include reducing energy consumption; removing fossil fuels from the site; reducing water consumption by finding new ways to harvest and store rainwater; acting to protect and enhance biodiversity within its gardens; reducing waste and exploring circular economy initiatives. Another important part of these changes is to work in partnership with other sustainably-minded organisations in order to drive change more widely. This includes choosing Social Pantry as one of the venue’s trusted suppliers..
Our Experience Catering at Hampton Court Palace
Catering our first event at Hampton Court Palace was an unforgettable experience. For this prestigious dinner, 230 guests were led, in small groups, on a guided tour of the venue, where the history of the palace was brought to life by actors in traditional Tudor dress. The tour ended in the breathtaking Great Hall, a magnificent room at the centre of the palace which features impressively high ceilings, a stunning hammerbeam roof and walls adorned with beautifully preserved Abraham tapestries. Here, Team Social Pantry served guests a selection of innovative canapes and artisanal breads, followed by a seasonal, sustainably-made three course dinner.
Why We Love Hampton Court Palace for Weddings
With its stunning Tudor architecture, beautiful gardens and riverside setting, Hampton Court Palace really does provide a magical backdrop for a wedding.
This 500-year old pleasure palace was quite literally designed to host perfect celebrations, from the days of hosting Henry VIII right up to today’s glitterati, this sprawling venue has something for everyone.
Whether you fancy yourself a royalist, a history buff, or you simply want to celebrate your big day somewhere that will have your guests wide-eyed in wonder, Hampton Court Palace ticks all the boxes.
The ultimate hidden gem, Chelsea Physic Garden is London’s oldest botanical garden, tucked away in the heart of the city. Home to over 5000 rare and botanically significant plants, this tranquil oasis makes a magical setting for a wedding, with luscious leafy greens providing the perfect backdrop for photography.
Couples can exchange vows amongst the greenery or, if the great British weather isn’t on our side, the elegant Gallery Room, overlooking the gardens, makes a great alternative.
Sustainability at Chelsea Physic Garden

Founded in 1673 to teach people about medicinal and other useful plants, Chelsea Physic Garden has been an important educational space and beacon of diversity for the past 350 years.
For the Garden, sustainability is not just a buzzword, it’s at the very core of everything they do.
The garden’s 5,000 plants are watered using rain capture from the glasshouse roofs, and a borehole connected to the Thames; any fallen leaves and plant waste are composted and mulched on-site; while pruned branches and bamboo stems are repurposed as plant supports. Some of the items in the gift shop are constructed from garden material too, such as the beautiful hand-carved wooden bowls, made from the Garden’s famous Mulberry tree (which had to be felled in 2022 because of disease).
Taking steps to address climate change, the Garden’s ‘Microclimate Emergency’ initiative includes planting drought-resistant gardens, publishing weather data collected on site to highlight changing weather patterns in real time and hosting sustainability-focussed workshops for both school children and adults.
Finally, Chelsea Physic Garden also fosters inclusivity and community engagement by working with a diverse network of volunteers, including local residents and refugees of all ages. They offer a year-round programme of horticultural and botanical-themed courses aimed at highlighting the ways in which plants shape society, from perfume workshops to sustainable chocolate making.
Our Experience Catering at Chelsea Physic Garden
We love the calming, meditative feel of Chelsea Physic Garden and the weddings we’ve catered here have been a joy. This summer we fed 50 guests canapés and an intimate 2-course meal in the beautiful gardens set to a peaceful soundtrack of birdsong under a canopy. Starting with canapés like Broad Bean and Shallot, Housemade Ricotta, Truffle on delicate Filo Tarts, guests then tucked into main courses of Cotswold Chicken, Runner Beans, Lemon and Onion Purée served alongside Potato Rosti and Jus, before finishing with fresh summer flavours of Crème Fraîche Ice Cream, Flat Peach, Peach Sauce, Almond Biscuit and Nasturtium Oil.
On another recent occasion, we catered a wedding reception for 150 guests in the luscious grounds, with waiters dispersing canapés such as Sourdough Crumpet, Dorset Crab, Brown Crab Crème Fraiche, and Sea Herbs, as well as Miso Chicken Nuggets, served with Sesame Aioli and Togarashi.
Why We Love Chelsea Physic Garden for Weddings
Chelsea Physic Garden is an ideal wedding venue for anyone wanting to get close to nature, without having to leave the city.
If you’ve always dreamed of spending your big day surrounded by plants and greenery, then the Garden is a perfect choice. And inclement weather needn’t be an issue either – if an outdoor wedding just isn’t possible, couples can make use of the Gallery room, which overlooks the garden, or hire a stylish marquee from one of the Garden’s long standing partnered suppliers.
Should you choose, Social Pantry can create a bespoke menu for your day, intrinsically tied to the Garden, by incorporating some of the 5,000 plants in their collection. We can also look to the Garden for inspiration to guide our event styling and tablescape design, reflecting the stunning backdrop that Chelsea Physic Garden provides naturally.
Located just 15 minutes walk from Sloane Square, the venue is incredibly easy to access via public transport for guests travelling across London or from further afar.

Battersea Arts Centre is an impressive, spacious wedding venue offering breathtaking Grade II-listed architecture and versatile spaces. The stunning restored Victorian Grand Hall, with its high vaulted ceilings and dramatic features, provides an unforgettable backdrop for both wedding ceremonies and celebrations of all sizes.
Sustainability at Battersea Arts Centre
Battersea Arts Centre is a great example of a venue with an impressive commitment to sustainability, both socially and environmentally.
Alongside the admirable work they do to support young people, new artists and the local community, the Battersea Arts Team has also taken several steps towards a greener future.
These include training their staff in Carbon Literacy; including a ‘sustainability rider’ in private hire contracts, encouraging clients to think about sustainable choices they can make at their event; tracking power usage for events in the Grand Hall in order to reduce this in future; and adhering to a Zero-Waste-To-Landfill policy (all recycling and glassware is separated, while everything else is processed into biofuel that goes back into the National Grid to powering the building and beyond). The team is also committed to working with suppliers who align with their values, vetting them based on their sustainability policies – Social Pantry is proud to be one of Battersea Arts Centre’s accredited caterers, meeting their rigorous sustainability standards.
Our Experience Catering at Battersea Arts Centre
Catering multiple events here every year for the last few years means that Team Social Pantry are adept at navigating the logistics of Battersea Arts Centre. From charity gala dinners and corporate parties, and of course, many wedding celebrations, there is ample space to entertain hundreds of guests.
One of the more recent weddings we catered here began with our team serving the 180 guests with a selection of seasonally-focussed canapés in the Octagonal Hall before guests moved through to the Grand Hall for their three-course dinner. The main course was a bespoke request, an elevated Cotswold Chicken Supreme Kiev, filled with Confit Garlic and Tarragon Butter alongside Mashed Potato, Grilled Hispi Cabbage, Glazed Carrots, Crispy Cavolo Nero, and finished with a drizzle of Zero-Waste Herb Oil. A few hours into the evening reception, after guests had warmed up on the dancefloor, our waiters roamed with Espresso Martinis and portions of Clementine Sorbet served in shelled out clementine skin, making the sweet treat even sweeter by knowing the entirety of the fruit was used.
Why We Love Battersea Arts Centre for Weddings
With its unique vaulted ceiling and restored Victorian walls, the shape and size of the venue’s Grand Hall make it a versatile space that can be easily transformed. We’ve loved the sheer variety of the weddings we’ve catered here, from a December wedding that turned the hall into a magical winter wonderland complete with Christmas trees and mistletoe, to a spring celebration where neat rows of long tables were adorned with spring flowers and pastel colours.
Another big tick for the venue is its size. Battersea Arts Centre is the perfect venue for anyone wanting a big bash. The Grand Hall can accommodate up to 450 people for a standing reception and up to 300 for a seated dinner, so there’s no need for any couples tiffs when it comes to organising the guest list…
And a bonus venue, just outside London…
Ok, we know we’re supposed to be looking at sustainable venues in London, but we couldn’t resist giving an honourable mention to this exceptional contender, located just a stone’s throw from the city’s borders.

Hedsor House is a stunning Georgian mansion nestled within the English countryside on the Buckinghamshire-Berkshire border. Surrounded by 100 acres of Grade II listed parkland and boasting panoramic views of the Thames Valley and River Thames, this elegant country house is a truly breathtaking venue for a wedding.
Its versatile spaces, including the beautiful domed Centre Hall and the light-filled Ballroom, are perfect for both intimate ceremonies and lavish receptions, while the picturesque gardens and panoramic views make an ideal backdrop for photos, if the weather permits.
Sustainability at Hedsor House
Hedsor House and its grounds are owned and overseen by the Shephard family, who have been committed to sustainability from the very start. The family are constantly striving to work towards a greener Hedsor and reducing their carbon footprint. Over the past 30 years, the family has planted over 2,500 trees, including important specimen Oaks, Wellingtonias, Beeches and Cedars of Lebanon; left areas of the estate untouched for rewilding; and keep honey bees on site to pollinate and promote a biodiverse ecosystem. As for inside the house, the family makes efforts to reduce their waste, and have recently invested in solar panels and electric car charging points.
Our Experience Catering at Hedsor House
Brand new to Social Pantry’s list of accredited venues (added in January 2025), we are yet to cater a wedding at this spectacular venue, but can’t wait for our first booking!
Why We Love Hedsor House for Weddings
Given as a generous wedding gift to The Shephards in 1934, Hedsor House has love in its bones. With a glamorous history dating back to 1776, it frequently graces the pages of lifestyle magazines as one of the most desirable places in the country to get married.
A magnificent and utterly private setting for weddings, both inside and out provide a stunning backdrop for a magical celebration.
Capable of hosting 150 guests with complete exclusivity, as well as the ability to book luxury overnight accommodation for up to 26 people in the House, the party can go on into the wee hours with those nearest and dearest to the newlyweds.
Just 45 minutes’ drive from central London, less than 30 minutes’ drive from Heathrow Airport and a stone’s throw from Taplow train station (which is on the Elizabeth Line), the venue is well located for guests’ travelling from both near and far.

For the past ten years we have worked on every theme and trend you can think of, but one wedding movement we’re very proud to have championed from the start is the desire for a more sustainable wedding.
Our favourite zero waste wedding food ideas
From large formal events to small intimate dinner parties, here at Social Pantry our aim is to always work in the most sustainable, planet friendly way possible, that’s why zero waste weddings are a big focus for us as a London catering service.
We spoke to 10 different event venues during the research for this article and, while some are taking important steps towards implementing greener solutions, others were honest and open in recognising that they could be doing more and, as a result, were not featured. As we continue to do our bit to champion sustainable practices and challenge our partner venues, we hope to be able to add more venues to this list in the future. Watch this space!
