Hire Tower Bridge: The High Level Walkways
Tower Bridge is undoubtedly one of the most famous and defining landmarks of London, recognised across the globe. But while the bridge is known for its impressive exterior, there are few who know about what’s inside. Tower Bridge is in fact home to not just one but three different event spaces – The North Tower Lounge, The Engine Rooms and The High Level Walkways – which can be hired for a range of events, from corporate meetings and intimate weddings to large dinners and parties.
Looking for an iconic London venue in which to host your next event? In this mini series, we explore the three different event spaces within Tower Bridge. This time, we’re looking at the largest of the bridge’s event spaces, The High Level Walkways.

Inside Tower Bridge: The High Level Walkways
Designed by architect Sir Horace Jones and civil engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry, The High Level Walkways run between the North and South towers of the bridge and were built so that people could still cross the bridge even when the bascules (the moveable section of the bridge) were lifted. They also house the suspension cable that supports the full length of Tower Bridge.
The walkways run 61 metres across and stand 42 metres above the River Thames. With glass sides, they offer unsurmounted views of the city. From the East Walkway, you can see the Docklands, Canary Wharf and Greenwich, while the West Walkway offers stunning views of some of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard. In 2014, glass floors were also installed in both walkways, offering unique, top-down views of the bridge and the river.
Both the East, West or both walkways can be hired for events of many sizes and styles. One Walkway can accommodate up to 60 for a seated dinner and 150 for a standing reception. For a larger standing reception of up to 250 people, it’s possible to hire both Walkways. Dynamic colour-changing LED lighting is also hidden within the steel structure of the bridge, adding to the general ambience and impressive look of the space.
