DULWICH PICTURE GALLERY Social Pantry's Spring Gathering
Social Pantry’s Spring Gathering at Dulwich Picture Gallery was a chance to showcase what weddings with Social Pantry are all about with 100 influential wedding industry leaders and insiders. Social Pantry has a natural affinity with Dulwich Picture Gallery. Both have their roots in South London and are an established part of the local community. Whilst also sharing a commitment to social impact. Dulwich Picture Gallery is England’s first purpose-built public art gallery, making art accessible to all. Meanwhile Social Pantry is an industry-leader in ex-offender employment, working with London prisons to provide training and employment opportunities.
Social Pantry styled long tables throughout Soane Gallery – famous for its rich red walls – with an edible tablescape filled with whole citrus fruits that blurred the lines between food and art. Playing on the traditional wedding favour, place cards were jam jars and the citrus fruits on display were for guests to take home at the end of the night, along with a recipe for Blood Orange & Grapefruit marmalade inside the menu booklets.
The Menu
The evening began with luxurious canapes such as Yuzu & Soy Beef Tartare, Togarashi Aioli, Spring Onion, Sesame. Mature Kirkham Cheese Beignets with Pea & Chive Puree, and Dorset Crab, Shell Mayo, Caviar, Pressed Potato also featured.
Guests then sat down to a 3 course feast that showcased Social Pantry’s 360 approach to catering. The emphasis was on fresh, seasonal, local produce prepared in a zero-waste way with skill, creativity and thoughtfulness in abundance. Suppliers took centre stage. Our event menu booklets were beautifully illustrated by our own in-house artists and shone the spotlight on each of our producers. They provided course-by-course introduction their regenerative methods and why we have chosen to partner with them as we work toward a better food future. Each course was paired with superb English and Italian wines.
Wildfarmed Potato & Seaweed Focaccia served with a trio of Brown Butter, Burnt Roscoff Onion Butter, and Herb Oil, was proceeded by starters of Courgette Capaccio, Fennel, Kohlrabi, Wild Rocket, Toasted Pine Nut, or Fillet Streak & Smoked Flank Tartare, Crispy Capers, St Ewes Egg Yolk & Rye.
For the main course, guests chose between Cornish Hake, Shell Bisque, White Crab, Two Fields Olive Oil Mash, Tropea Onion & Scottish Dulse. Or Pot Roast Kohlrabi, Norfolk Asparagus, Hasselpack Potato, Parsley & Watercress Sauce, Radish & Chevril.
For dessert, Pump Street Chocolate & Whey Caramel Mille Fueille championed this fabulous British bean to bar chocolate. Pistachio Sponge, Blood Orange Sorbet, Cherry Blossom Vinegar and Meringue celebrated rare foraged and preserved cherry blossoms.
It was really such a treat […] Please extend my thanks to the entire Social Pantry team, it was a really delicious and beautiful evening.”
