The festive season is all about creating a home that feels warm, welcoming, and full of cheer – and a few thoughtful touches can make all the difference. Our Creative Styling Manager, Abi, has spent years turning spaces into settings for magical, memorable experiences. Here, she shares her top tips to help you bring that signature Social Pantry style into your own home this Christmas
Layered paper décor
There’s something so lovely about handmade touches at Christmas. Turn last year’s cards, old magazines, or textured wrapping paper into delicate paper chains or folded stars, and drape them from ceilings, doorways, or mantelpieces. Layer them up for a playful, whimsical feel.
Bigger, better bows
Bows aren’t just for gifts – they’re a statement this season. Go bold with oversized, striped, or textured ribbons, mixing colours and fabrics. Gorgeous added to place settings, or tie them on wreaths, vases, or even door handles. Keep a few aside for future gift wrapping after the celebrations, too.
Citrus fragrance
Bring your home alive with scent and colour. Stack clove-studded oranges in large bowls, trays or trifle dishes and try drying your own orange slices in the oven to string into garlands. A simple way to add festive warmth and a cosy, seasonal aroma to your home.
Abundant candlelight
Candles instantly make a table feel magical. Mix pillar candles of different heights with clusters of tealights in frosted glass holders for a soft, layered glow that’s warm, inviting, and effortlessly festive.
Dark, moody reds
Rich, winter berry-toned and crimson napkins, linens, and florals bring depth and drama to your table. Make use of vibrant fruits like pomegranates or red apples, too. They look beautiful nestled among your table décor and can be sliced up afterwards for post-dinner cocktails.
Second-hand finds
Hunt for second-hand silverware or crystal glassware to add personality and timeless shine to your table – pieces that feel curated, collected, and full of character.
Handwritten menus and place cards
It’s the small touches that make a table feel special. Handwriting menus or place cards shows thoughtfulness and adds a personal touch.
