The spectacular, historic venue in the heart of London offers 12 flexible, blank-canvas indoor and outdoor spaces suitable for staging all manner of events, including weddings. The Portico Rooms offer a stylish space with stunning views of the River Thames and the Edmond J Safra Fountain Court, while the Embankment Galleries, which originally functioned as a barrel-vaulted barge house, provide a distinctive and dynamic event space.

Capacity

Somerset House offers a wide range of event spaces suitable for everything from intimate meetings to large-scale receptions.

The largest area, the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, can host up to around 3,000 guests standing (or about 600 seated for dinner), making it ideal for major receptions and corporate events.

The Embankment Galleries accommodate 800 standing or 340 seated, while mid-sized spaces such as the River Terrace and West Wing hold around 500 guests standing.

Smaller rooms including the Portico Rooms, Seamen’s Hall, Navy Board Rooms and Lancaster/River Rooms range from 60 to 220 guests depending on layout, and the Screening Room seats around 70 theatre-style. Capacities vary depending on configuration and production requirements.
