Perfect party food for Christmas entertaining. As the festive season gets underway and our diaries fill up with countless drinks parties, Christmas themed workshops and endless weekend entertaining, we often find ourselves madly wracking our brains for what party food to offer our guests when they come over for that Eggnog fuelled, Christmas party.
So we thought we’d help out and list a few easy to knock out party foods, so you can spend the rest of the evening dancing your way through Christmas floor fillers.
The Cheese Board
You can never go wrong with a delicious cheese board. Fill it with a good old slab of mature cheddar, a gooey brie, a strong blue stilton and finish it off with a hard goats cheese. Make sure you have a variety of cheese crackers to hand and a loaf or two of bread (we recommend a walnut sourdough and a light rye bread). A few spiced chutney’s or quince jelly is always a winner and we love adding a few pickled onions and slices of apples to add colour and contrast to the board.
Smoked Salmon Blinis
These are easy and so quick to knock up. If you buy ready made blinis, smoked salmon, sour cream and some dill you can turn out a WOW looking canapé with minimum fuss, in no time.
Who doesn’t love a cocktail sausage! You can either get creative and cook them in a variety of glazes or straight up, either way they’ll always go down a storm and you’ll be hunting for cocktail sticks discarded all over the house well into the new year!
Roasted Beetroot Hummus
So vibrant and colourful, this is a brilliant addition to any Christmas spread. Delicious for dunking in crunchy carrots, crisps of crackers. You’ll find a myriad of recipe online but definitely a beautiful addition to your food table.
Smoked Mackerel Pâté
Mackerel pâté is really simple and crazily moreish – piled high on mini toasts or crisp breads, add this to your table and make sure to have a stack of lemon wedges to hand for extra zing.
Mini Mince Pies
And lastly, the perfect go to sweet tooth treat, just enough of the brandy soaked fruit to hit the spot and perfect when washed down with a warming Christmas cocktail. Check out some of our Christmas party cocktail recipes here.
