We recently hosted some lovely ladies and gentlemen for lunch at Soane’s Kitchen, our restaurant in Ealing. Soane’s Kitchen sits in the original walled garden of the beautiful Pitzhanger Manor, so our guests were treated to a tour of the recently restored manor, before joining us for a seasonal lunch.
The manor was designed in 1800 by sir John Soane in then rural Ealing as his dream country retreat. Like us, he loved hosting and showing people a good time; he was know for elaborate and theatrical dinner parties!
It was lucky everyone was hungry, because at Soane’s Kitchen we can’t resist putting on a bit of a feast. To begin, we nibbled on Norcella Olives, and sipped on Nyetimber Classic Cuvee.
We shared plates piled high with Burrata and heritage tomatoes and Scottish smoked salmon with shallots and capers; all served with toasted sourdough bread.
For mains there were a selection of seasonal dishes; Summer Pea and Mint Risotto with Sourdough Crumb and Pan Seared Cod with Grilled Courgette and Garden Fennel went down a treat.
Dessert was a choice of Soane’s Eton mess, or our super chocolaty Chocolate Torte.
Top hosting tips
How a space looks can really add to the atmosphere. We gave this event it an English meadow feel with all English flowers from Bramble and Willow, pretty menus on floral paper and our rustic wicker place mats and coasters.
For the menu, make as much as possible made ahead of time. That was you can enjoy catching up with your friends.
