A Social Supper


On Wednesday 26th April, we hosted our very first Social Supper in support of our fantastic charity partner, Key4Life.  5 chefs including the likes of our very own Alex Head, Adam Handling (The Frog), Lee Westcott (Typing Room), Anna Barnett (Anna Barnett Cooks) and Robin Gill & Richard Falk (The Dairy) partnered with 5 young men which Key4Life put forward for their interest towards cooking and the hospitality industry.

Prior to the event day, each young man took part in a 3-day work taster at each of their partner’s kitchens to gain an insight into a working life as a chef.  It was during the taster that our pairs chose a dish to prepare and cook for the social supper menu.Social Supper DSC02684As we opened the doors at Calvert 22 to our first Social Supper club, Alex and her partner Ray welcomed the guests with a selection of delicious canapes as follows…

DSC03195DSC02805All perfectly washed down with drinks from Tanquerary, our guests soon took to their seats before being properly introduced to Key4Life and the idea behind the Social Supper by Alex and charity founder, Eva Hamilton.

The Social Supper was a total success with ticket profits raising £2,000 as a donation towards Key4Life.  In addition to this, and perhaps even more impressively, the event genuinely changed lives.  Each and every young man that took part in the event has benefitted from the project in one way or another.  For some, it simply improved confidence, others now have invaluable work experience to boost their CV whilst one lucky gent, secured a full-time paid role in a top London restaurant.
